i promise to be quiet is a photo essay based on escapism. According to the dictionary, this philosophical and ethical concept involves escaping from the everyday through contemplation and seeking refuge in timelessness. For me, the idea of escaping is associated with reuniting with nature – getting away from the city or what we call society. In reality, escaping is almost impossible. Abandoning the comfort and safety created by society, corporations and infrastructure is hard to justify.

In the project, I chose to represent this concept and concern of mine through the relationship of two elements: natural structures and anthropogenic ones. Images are metaphors of impossibilities – fantasy that is stopped by reality or reality that is pierced by fantasy. The two worlds are in continuous play, where the weight of each over the other varies from image to image.

The series is a neverending search, a journey with an ambiguous purpose, a desire to find a place or something that does not exist and cannot be obtained.
